Networking Groups & Communication Channels

We all know that networking groups are a great way to meet people and drum up potential business via the verbal conversation and events, but have you ever utilized your networking group to communicate via the written word? There are numerous avenues by which networking groups communicate with members – the e-newsletter, press releases on their website, member news features and social media just to name a few.

Remember, it doesn’t always have to be the media who helps to tell your story, why not enlist the help of the team supporting the networking group to help? It’s one of the benefits of being a member!

Before you get started writing anything, make sure to ask questions. It’s important to know if they’re accepting submissions or extremely backed up (especially if what you’re writing is timely), if there’s a specified word count, if the feature you’re writing can be promotional in nature, if photos/visuals are an option and more. There might even be an opportunity for an ongoing feature – you never know! It’s always great to have information ahead of time so that there is no wasting of time.

Remember, for some companies anyone is a potential customer so think about all of the resources you have available to you to communicate.
